Conversion
of The Garage
in Braddock, PA into a camera obscura, various detritus found
around the exhibition
site
In
this one-day exhibition, I converted the front door of The Garage into
a camera obscura that projected an image of the historic Edgar
Thomson Steel Works on the back of the gallery wall. Various sticks,
planks, pipes, and other detritus lean against the wall as if they are
propping the image in the air. Just in front of the building, I am building
a geodesic dome out of trash (bookshelves that I cut into strips as
well as hexagonal and pentagonal hubs made from discarded palates).
A night component of stargazing was canceled due to inclement weather.
